Under new regulations announced by the Deputy Prime Minister in June, UK public companies will become the first in the world to publish figures of the greenhouse gases they produce from April 2013.
The new Mandatory Carbon Reporting scheme is designed to encourage companies to measure and so begin to manage and reduce their impacts on the environment, with the ultimate aim of helping to meet the UK’s commitment to cut carbon emissions to 50% of 1990 levels by 2025.
