Vacant Unit Risk Assessment

If you have an empty unit or site premises, then you will need to ensure that it is inspected to guarantee it is being maintained in a safe condition, so as not to cause injury to members of the public, contractors and prospective tenants. In many cases, void unit safety inspections may be required by property insurers.

A void unit safety inspection may also be required to secure the premises against unauthorised access. Additionally, it may be necessary to ensure site security, ensure properties are structurally sound (as well as wind and water-tight) and ensure that all plant, equipment and non-essential utilities and services are isolated.

What are the benefits?

A void unit safety inspection ensures peace of mind that the property is a safe and secure environment whilst it is not in occupation. It will also provide you with reassurance that the asset is not deteriorating or posing a risk to health and safety in order to ensure asset protection.

How can the S2 Partnership help?

One of our qualified and experienced health & safety consultants will visit the vacant unit to carry out a safety survey to ensure that the unit is secure and safe, and does not pose uncontrolled risk to employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public. The survey will include issues such as security, physical condition, environmental pollution, waste, plant & equipment and fire risk. Our report of findings will be in brief summary format and will be supplemented by digital photographs.
