GRESB: 2018 Results Now Available

19th September 2018

The 2018 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Real Estate and Infrastructure Assessments results are now available, and indicate strong growth in participation in both the fund and asset assessment. This year, 903 property companies, developers and investors participated in the GRESB Real Estate Assessment, an increase of 6% on the previous year. The Infrastructure Assessment covered 75 funds and 280 assets and 25 portfolios completed the Debt Assessment.

The newly introduced optional supplement – the Resilience Module – has also proved popular with participants this year. In its third and final year, the voluntary Health & Well-being Module was filled out by 297 entities this year. This Module provides funds and investors with a tool to understand and compare health promotion practices and performance. The Module has received good levels of participation, which has increased by 71%, since its release in 2016.

European companies and funds continue to excel, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 5.6% in 2018.

A series of global and regional launch events are now in progress, with London results taking place last week. These results events offer the opportunity for the global real asset community to engage on the current state of sustainability in the sector, through showcasing best practice case studies by leading industry experts from key institutional investors, property companies and sustainability consultants from across the world. The results highlight emerging trends from the annual GRESB Assessments.
