HSE Launches Three Consultations on Changes to ACOPs

4th June 2013

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has launched three consultations on changes to the content of Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs), which will remain open for comment until 23rd August 2013.

Revisions to the ACOPs; Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) (L134-138), Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) (L5) and The control of legionella bacteria in water systems (L8) have been proposed.

These changes follow a consultation in June 2012 where the HSE board agreed a number of ACOPS would be reviewed in order to make it easier for employers to understand and effectively meet their legal obligations. Legal responsibilities to protect health and safety are not altered by any changes to ACOPs.
