Publication of Grenfell Tower Inquiry Report

30th October 2019

The independent public inquiry report into the Grenfell Tower tragedy has been published today. Outlined in the report are recommendations which could have significant implications for owners and managers of high-rise residential properties and the Fire & Rescue Service. The report praised the courage shown by firefighters on the night of the fire.

The Chairman of the Inquiry, Sir Martin Moore-Bick was appointed by the Prime Minister on 28 June 2017, and the inquiry has investigated a list of issues which have been separated into two phases.  This publication forms Phase 1 of the report – establishing exactly what happened on the night of the fire.  Phase 2 will now examine the circumstances and the causes.  Hearings for the next phase are expected to begin in early 2020.
