Latest ISO 45001 – draft legislation has reached final stage of development.

16th November 2017

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) has confirmed a provisional publication date of late November 2017 for the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) of ISO 45001, with the publication of the final Standard to then follow in the first quarter or first half of 2018.

The most recent vote on the current draft showed an 88% approval.  Once the editing work has been carried out on the draft, the final draft will be circulated again for approval.

Once it has been finalised, ISO 45001 will replace OHSAS 18001. Organisations currently certified to BS OHSAS 18001 are anticipated to need to migrate to ISO 45001 within three years of the new standard’s publication, at which time OHSAS 18001 is likely to be withdrawn.
