New HSE Information Sheet: Mobile Elevating Work Platforms

14th November 2014

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has recently updated their website with a new information sheet to help those involved in the selection, management and use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

With over 50 fatalities reported in 2013 from accidents involving mobile elevated work platforms, an increase of 65% on the previous year1, the guidance promotes what needs to be considered in the selection of an MEWP and the risks that need to be assessed and managed whilst it is in use.

In particular, the guidance references the relevant legal requirements including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER).

The S2 Partnership has a team of experienced health & safety consultants who can assist with understanding and managing the risks specific to working at height, including the use of MEWPs. For further information, assistance or guidance, please click here.
