HSE Issue First Fee for Intervention (FFI) Invoices

20th February 2013

Almost 5 months since the introduction of the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Fee for Intervention scheme, the first invoices have been sent, totalling almost £730,000 for the months of October and November 2012.

The scheme enables the HSE to recover costs for inspection, investigation and taking enforcement action from those breaking health and safety laws, under The Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2012.

10 per cent of invoices raised are for values more than £1,000, whilst invoices for less than £500 account for 70 per cent of invoices.

Charges are not payable where no breach of regulation is identified and with 1418 invoices raised in only the first 2 months, the importance of properly managing Health & Safety responsibilities is clear.
