ISO 45001: New Topic-Specific Guidance Published

22nd August 2018

Two new topic-specific guidance documents have been published by BSI, the business standards company, to give users additional support on areas within ISO 45001 compliance that they require specific help with. The two new documents (BS 45002-1 and BD 45002-3) are designed to complement the new international occupational health and safety management system standard BS ISO 45001, as well as to supplement BS 45002-0, which supplies general guidance on implementing ISO 45001.

BS 45002-1:2018 provides guidance on managing occupational health. It is suitable for organisations of all sizes working towards full compliance with ISO 45001, or those working towards it in stages. The guidance provides practical examples on how to meet the high-level requirements of ISO 45001.

BS 45002-3:2018 offers guidance on accident and incident investigation and will help organisations of all sizes to manage this aspect of ISO 45001 in a way that is proportionate to their situation. It is accessible to anyone who needs to manage occupational health and safety in the workplace and provides practical examples on how to implement the requirements of ISO 45001.

This new BS 45002 series of guidance notes is intended to replace BS 18004 – the guidance documents to OHSAS 18001 – which is now withdrawn.
