European Week for Waste Reduction 21st-29th November

18th November 2015

European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) runs from 21-29 November – an initiative aiming to raise awareness of sustainable resource and waste management amongst a wide range of audiences.

This years’ focus is on the issue of Dematerialization, which promotes the idea of replacing products with services and improving the use of materials, by reusing products or substituting materials.

The key consideration at the heart of EWWR is addressing the “3Rs”: Reduce waste, Reuse products, Recycle material – and the EWWR website promotes a comprehensive selection of best practice actions implemented during previous editions of the EWWR to inspire audiences.

Encouraging the development of waste management strategies within authorities and businesses, EWWR provides a number of case studies and factsheets which showcase effective waste management and waste reduction.  For further information, please visit the website.

If you’re looking for an easy way to track and reduce waste, the RiskWise Environmental Management module assists organisations in identifying, managing and reducing environmental impacts including energy and water consumption and waste management. The module records and reports on all the individual waste streams across your properties, enabling you to instantly identify changes in waste levels and trends to focus effective waste reduction efforts.
