FIA Publishes New Guidance on Fire Safety Signs and Notices

15th August 2013

The Fire Industry Association (FIA) has launched a new guide to assist building managers, facility managers, duty holders and responsible persons in meeting the requirements for fire safety signs and notices as detailed within the Health & Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 and relevant British Standards.

The new guide provides information on what is required and examples of which signs should be used in order to clearly identify fire exit and escape routes and provide other fire safety notices and information.

Of particular importance, the guide covers effective illumination, height, size and location of signage, as well as advising periodic review of signage to ensure it supports the fire strategy for the premises.
