Blueprint Launched to Improve Safety in the Waste Industry

12th June 2013

The Waste Industry Safety and Health (WISH) Forum has launched a five-prong plan to drive down the number of people killed and seriously injured in the waste and recycling industry.

Industry leaders have been working on the new blueprint for better risk management since February in order to focus efforts around five strategic areas; providing strong leadership, involving the workforce, building competence, creating healthier and safer workplaces and providing support for small and medium sized employers.

Key initiatives include the industry developing its own leadership standards, communicating best practice across the industry and investigating other industries for safety leadership experience as well as publishing new training on successful worker involvement.
