Waste Prevention and Reuse Key to Resource Efficiency

19th October 2012

A member survey by the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM) this week revealed that the key issues facing the waste industry in the next 5 years are waste prevention and reuse.

The CIWM believe the concepts of prevention and reuse are less difficult to grasp and engage with compared with recycling or composting activities – but research has suggested that better waste prevention practices alone could save EU businesses as much as £400bn a year.

The report suggests that waste producers are increasingly realising the scale of cost savings to be made from greater resource efficiency, with business leaders considering waste reduction to be the second biggest priority in driving better resource efficiency.

Launching this month, new RiskWise enhancements to the Environmental Management module make waste management and reporting comprehensive and easy. For further information contact: hello@s2partnership.co.uk or +44 (0)1954 267788.
